The Pittsburgh Steelers are signing former Washington Commanders safety Darrick Forrest to their practice squad after a tryout yesterday, the team announced. Forrest, 26, is a rangy free safety that also brings special teams value to the team.
He was with the Buffalo Bills and Indianapolis Colts at different points this season but has failed to stick on either roster. Forrest was with the Bills for most of training camp before being released.
He is an experienced safety, too. A fifth-round pick out of Cincinnati in the 2021 NFL Draft, Forrest has started 17 games over his NFL career, with 59 total games played. For most of those games, he has played as a free safety.
