LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Operation Good Cheer, a long-standing program of Child and Family Charities, is putting out an urgent call for sponsors this holiday season.
For 55 years, the program has brought comfort and joy to children in Michigan’s foster care system through personalized holiday gift deliveries.
Each year, Operation Good Cheer partners with foster care agencies statewide to gather wish lists, up to six items each, from participating children.
Sponsors then ‘adopt’ one or more children, purchasing at least three gifts from each child’s list.
These gifts are collected at multiple locations and delivered to the Oakland County International Airport in Waterford Township.
From there, volunteer pilots and truck drivers distribute the gifts across Michigan.
