DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - It was a seemingly innocent offer — a 10-speed bicycle — that lured brothers Gary and Roger Warren into a nightmare on Aug. 19, 1979.

What began as a hopeful trek for a new bike quickly turned sinister.

“We started following the guy back to where he said the bicycle was, and then he grabbed us, and we knew we were in trouble,” Gary Warren told KWQC.

During a struggle, Roger, then 12 years old, helped his younger brother escape, but only Gary would make it home.

Six days later, Roger’s body was recovered from the Mississippi River in Davenport, a tragic end to a case that remains unsolved to this day.
