BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Ed Orgeron, who led LSU to a national championship in 2019, told ESPN’s “Unsportsmanlike” on Wednesday that he would love to have his old job back following Brian Kelly’s firing .

“I’d love to,” Orgeron said. “Are you kidding me? Hey, I’m one phone call away. I just gotta get in my truck, I could be there today.”

LSU announced Sunday it had fired Kelly midway through his fourth season , ending a 10-year, $100 million contract after the team’s 49-25 loss to Texas A&M, its third defeat in four games. Athletic Director Scott Woodward cited unmet expectations, saying LSU would begin a “national search” for its next head coach.
