BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) — The city of Bowling Green, Warren County, and Compost BG are teaming up to give your pumpkins a greener afterlife.
Every year, over 1.3 billion pounds of pumpkins end up in landfills across the United States. This year, organizers are urging residents to compost their pumpkins instead of throwing them away.

The Great Pumpkin Drop event will take place on Friday, Nov. 1, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 2, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Residents can bring their old pumpkins to either Lovers Lane Soccer Complex, near the maintenance shop dumpster
