(WJET/WFXP)-- In light of the penny being phased out of production, Giant Eagle is giving shoppers the chance to be penny-wise with their change by giving them the chance to exchange any unwanted pennies for double their value.

The grocery retailer announced that this Saturday, November 1, customers can bring pennies into any of their locations or Market District locations and exchange them for double the value in store gift cards.

The event is going on Saturday from 11 am to 4 pm, with a minimum of $0.50 and up to $100 in pennies per transaction.
