On Wednesday afternoon, the U.S. Senate confirmed Alabama Solicitor General Edmund “Eddie” LaCour Jr. as a U.S. district judge for the Northern District of Alabama in a party-line 51-47 vote.
LaCour fills the vacancy left by Chief Judge L. Scott Coogler who retired earlier this year.
Today’s vote for LaCour brings home a 3-for-3 slate of confirmations this month by Alabama’s U.S. Senators after former Alabama Supreme Court Justice Bill Lewis and Huntsville attorney Hal Mooty were confirmed to the federal bench in recent days.
LaCour has served as Solicitor General under Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall since 2019.
