City of Calgary won't be following in the footsteps of the provincial government by mandating a full return to in-office work.

While Alberta government employees will soon be required to be back in the office full time, that won’t be the case for thousands of the City of Calgary’s office workers.

Last Friday, the province’s Deputy Ministers’ Council announced it would be ending an interim hybrid work policy for the Alberta Public Service, effective February 2026. The policy, which was put into effect following the COVID-19 pandemic in 2022, permitted eligible government employees to work from home up to two days per week.
