Shillong, Oct 29: Charges have been framed against Sonam Raghuvanshi, her lover Raj Kushwaha and a trio of suspected hitmen in the sensational murder case of Raja Raghuvanshi, who was done to death earlier this year.

Raja, who married Sonam on May 11, went missing on May 23 during their honeymoon in Meghalaya. His mutilated body was found in a deep gorge in Sohra area of East Khasi Hills district on June 2.

Sonam, Raj, Vishal Chauhan, Akash Rajput and Anand Kurmi were subsequently arrested and brought to Meghalaya to stand trial at the District and Sessions Court in Shillong.

The five were charged with murder, destruction of evidence and theft of ornaments after the court found sufficient evidence to proceed against them, police sources said.
