A look into the history of daylight saving time in Alberta

On the Sunday morning of Nov. 2, Albertans may wake up just a tad better slept than the night before, wondering what changed — was it the water they drank the night before? Their choice of pillow? Letting the cat sleep on the bed?

The answer will be the same as it is every year. On Nov. 2, the provincial clocks go back an hour and Alberta will be brought back to daylight standard time.

For the spring and summer, the province ran on daylight saving time , wherein the clocks ran one hour forward to maximize longer daylight hours in the evenings.

For the winter, the clocks will roll back, to maximize daylight hours in the morning. By falling back in November, the province will revert back to Mountain Standard
