Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen won three awards at last year's NFL Honors .
A Bills receiver has already caught a nomination this year.
Khalil Shakir, whose football journey began on a U.S. military base overseas, is the Bills' nominee for the 2025 Salute to Service Award presented by USAA. The award recognizes a member of the league who demonstrates a commitment to honoring and supporting the military community.
Shakir’s connection is personal: His father, Attiyyah Shakir, served 24 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, retiring as a Master Gunnery Sergeant. Khalil grew up in military communities in Hawaii, Japan and Southern California, and first learned to play football while his family was stationed in Okinawa. Skakir's father helped start a youth football league on the base.
