A Mobile County grand jury has indicted former police sergeant Charles Gary Rogers and his wife, Courtney Moore Rogers, on felony charges of tampering with physical evidence tied to their son’s 2024 crash that killed 19-year-old Nolan James McDavid.

The secret indictments, handed down Oct. 17, accuse the couple of removing a jacket from the fatal crash scene containing material evidence regarding McDavid’s death investigation. Evidence has slowly emerged over the past year alleging Courtney Rogers, 37, removed glass bottles from a car driven by their son, Dawson Cade Rogers, at a Nov. 23, 2024, wreck near the family’s neighborhood.
