Lilly King, an Indiana University alum and one of American swimming's greats, married James Wells over the weekend.

King, a 28-year-old Evansville native and three-time Olympic gold medalist, retired from competitive swimming after the 2025 World Championships. She posted wedding photos on social media.

Wells, a 32-year-old former IU swimmer, proposed to King on deck during the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials in Indianapolis.

King won Olympic gold in 2016 (100-meter breaststroke, 4x100 medley relay) and '24 (medley). She also has two silver and one bronze Olympic medals, and 19 golds in World Championships competition.

She won the 100 and 200 breast national championship four times each for IU, and she won two events in the 2015 state meet for Evansville Reitz.
