The Sting trailed 3-0 after one period and 7-0 after two before 2,778 at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.

The loss was their worst since an 8-1 shellacking by the Windsor Spitfires in the season opener.

The Sting (4-7-2-0) remain mired in ninth place in the Ontario Hockey League’s Western Conference after their third straight loss.

The Sting appeared to turn a corner after impressive efforts in some recent hard-luck losses, but they’ve taken a step back with two straight disappointing defeats.
