BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The former executive director of the Capital Area Groundwater Commission was indicted Wednesday by a grand jury in the 19th Judicial District Courthouse on a charge of malfeasance in office, following a series of reports by the WAFB I-Team.

An indictment signifies that a grand jury believes there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial.

Gary Beard and two Baton Rouge residents, Samuel Jason Hewitt and Oscar Reed Richard, were indicted on allegations related to dealings with a company named Sustainability Partners. All three men face charges of illegal contracts, combinations and conspiracies in restraint of trade, and monopolizing trade or commerce.

Beard and Richard also face the additional charge of malfeasance in office. Hewitt was indicted on two counts
