Syracuse, N.Y. — After just one exhibition game, Georgia Tech-transfer point guard Naithan George might be Syracuse basketball’s most indispensable player.
George was among the ACC’s leaders in minutes played last season, and his importance to the Orange lineup showed up in Saturday’s 76-66 exhibition win at Buffalo.
“Syracuse, when it had its lulls offensively, almost every single time it was when Naithan George was on the bench,” syracuse.com’s Mike Waters said on the latest episode of the “Inside Syracuse Basketball” podcast .
“I think this kid is going to be so important to this team working well on offense.”
While turnovers —George had four — are a concern, George’s ability to push pace creates opportunities that were too few and far between last season.
