SCHUMACHER STREETS

Two blocks of streets in Schumacher will now be one-way streets, as council approved a resolution impacting both Croatia Avenue, and Battochio Street, on the perimeter of Schumacher Public School.

The changes will see Croatia Avenue, from Grant Street to Battochio Street westerly, as well as Battochio Street, from Croatia Avenue to Fourth Avenue, southerly, become one-way for vehicular traffic.

These sections have become an issue for city crews, particularly during winter months.

“Public works staff identified these two streets as being challenging to maintain under the current minimum maintenance standards requirements due to them being very narrow, while also allowing on-street parking,” said Ken Krcel, director of public works and environmental
