GASTON COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- Drivers heading north on I-85 through Gastonia should expect major delays after a crash near Exit 27.
According to Belmont Police and the N.C. Department of Transportation, the wreck has shut down all northbound lanes near Betty Drive.
The closure began just before 4 p.m. and is expected to last until at least 5:52 p.m.
Traffic is backed up in the area, and officials are urging drivers to avoid I-85 North if possible.
Detour: Drivers can take Exit 26, turn left on McAdenville Road, right on NC-7 East, left on US 74 East, and then left on NC 273 North (Park Street) to return to I-85 North.
Gaston County Emergency Medical Services (GEMS) confirms with Queen City News that no injuries have been reported in this accident.
