MADISON (WKOW) — Child care providers in Wisconsin are facing the ripple effects of the government shutdown.
Programs across the state are expected to lose funding Nov. 1. That loss in funding is causing some programs to shut their doors.
Two programs serving about 400 children won't receive federal funding. In Sheboygan, the Human Rights Association is using emergency state funding to stay open through mid-November, which it said is likely the limit.
The Southwest Community Action Program (SWACP) said it will shut down all nine of its preschool Head Start classrooms by Nov. 3. Their services are focused in rural counties: Iowa, Lafayette, Grant, Green and Richland.
