Tonight will be a mess for travelers, with gusty downpours pushing through during the overnight embedded among lighter showers. The combination of rain and wind will make it a little difficult to view while driving at night, and gusty winds bringing leaves down will add an additional hazard with wet leaves and wet roads making for slick spots.
The heaviest rain will fall between 11 PM and 5 AM from west to east along a line of downpours as a low pressure system scoots nearly directly overhead. Wind gusts as high as 40 mph will be expected with this gusty line of showers. In general, most of us will see around an inch of rain overnight with locally heavier amounts, which will cause some ponding on area roadways.
