LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
The Louisville Metro Police Department has a new tool to help solve and deter crime, and it involves the community's security cameras.
"Connect Louisville" allows residents and businesses with exterior cameras to register or integrate those cameras into a city-wide network. That way, if a crime happens nearby, LMPD knows where they could potentially have video.
"We've talked about community safety many times and how community safety is not just the police department's responsibility. We cannot do it alone," said Deputy Chief Emily McKinley. "Connect Louisville is one of the ways to do that."
There are two ways to connect to the network. If a resident or business registers their camera, that enters their information into a data base with LMPD. If a crime happens nearby
