Perhaps the most valuable acquisition the Blue Jays made this year wasn’t Shane Bieber, Louis Varland or Ty France. Maybe it was elite reliever Chris Bassitt.
After being left off the division series roster, Bassitt has proved incredibly valuable for the Jays out of the bullpen; he’s pitched 6.2 innings and just gave up his first hit last night. The big question today is whether he’ll be available for the third day in a row.
Bassitt pitched an inning in the 18-inning marathon Game 3, then came back out in Game 4 and tossed another two innings. Both were extremely efficient — Bassitt threw a combined 28 pitches across nine batters faced — but pitching three straight days might be a bridge too far.
