JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — The Department of Public Safety encourages families to review fire safety rituals for the upcoming "fall back" daylight saving time change.
On November 2, daylight saving time ends, which means clocks "fall back" one hour. With the extra hour, the Division of Fire Safety recommends testing smoke alarms, reviewing fire escape plans, and taking a look at home heating safety measures.
“Simply installing, maintaining and replacing batteries in your home smoke alarms reduces the chances of dying in a fire in your home by 50%,” State Fire Marshal Tim Bean said. “There are other simple steps that can protect your family as well – close bedroom doors when you go to sleep, practice fire escape plans with all family members, and have a fire extinguisher on every level of the
