DUBLIN, Ga. — A Dublin elementary school art teacher is suing the city school district after her position was eliminated as part of sweeping budget cuts, with her attorneys arguing the termination violates her employment contract.
The Professional Association of Georgia Educators filed suit on behalf of Ashley White , who taught visual arts at Hillcrest Elementary School for four years before the district eliminated her position this month.
"She has apparently done nothing wrong. She's been performing her duties and because of the financial problems with the district, they are imposing a RIF that I contend they have no right to impose," said Ellen Schoolar, an attorney representing the teachers' association.
