MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison police are investigating a crash involving a vehicle and an electric scooter on the 400 block of North Frances Street.

The crash was reported Friday at 3:49 p.m. It happened when a vehicle attempted to turn into a driveway and collided with an electric scooter, according to the incident report.

The scooter operator lost consciousness and was taken to a local hospital with potential broken bones, police said.

Officers at the scene noted signs of impairment from vehicle's driver, John Anderson.

Police said Anderson refused to perform standard field sobriety tests and was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while impaired causing injury.
