An assistant Macomb County prosecutor told a jury he expects they will convict a Florida man of all charges for his prominent role among a group of six men who allegedly carjacked, kidnapped, robbed and tortured a Sterling Heights man after abducting him from outside a Shelby Township fitness center.

“I want you to put it all together,” Assistant Prosecutor Carmen DeFranco told jurors. “You’ll see the only possible resolution to this case.”

DeFranco kicked off the first trial in the Life Time abduction case Wednesday in Macomb Circuit Court by describing the alleged threats and “violent” acts two years ago this month by Xavier Chase Gardner, 31.
