LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Before family and friends arrive for holiday celebrations, U.S. Customs and Border Protection wants to ensure they’re not bringing anything that’s not allowed into the country.
The agency is warning travelers that some agricultural items—including some that are common holiday decorations and traditional offerings—may not make it through inspection. That list includes certain flowers, fruits, vegetables, plants, and even soil.
Some examples of items not allowed are orange jasmine, mangoes, and oranges.
Officials said travelers who fail to declare these items could face hefty fines.
