Edmonton’s new city council was officially sworn-in during an energetic ceremony on Wednesday.
Mayor Andrew Knack gave the oath of office alongside eight returning councillors and four newly elected ones.
“Today begins a new moment for our city,” he said, thanking outgoing mayor Amarjeet Sohi and outgoing councillors for their service. “Today would not be possible without the dedication of those who came before us. The trust placed in each of us by the people of Edmonton is profound. We will not agree on every path forward. But we must agree on the dignity of our offices and the respect we have for each other.
“Whether you voted for me or not, I am dedicated to being a mayor for you.”
