A new report says Alberta's big cities should get more seats in the legislature in time for the next provincial election.

A five-member commission is appointed every eight to 10 years to decide where to position electoral boundaries. Those determine which group of voters — geographically speaking — elects each member of Alberta's Legislative Assembly.

The latest commission held hearings across the province this summer and submitted its interim report on Tuesday. This commission had the task of redrawing the electoral map amid Alberta's population boom, much of which has been concentrated in its urban centres.
