The Twins are expected to hire Derek Shelton as their next manager, a source told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand on Wednesday night. The club has not confirmed the news.
Shelton was most recently the Pirates skipper from 2020 until midway through this past season, when he was let go after Pittsburgh started the season 12-26. He had a 306-440 record with the Bucs, his first big league managerial job.
For the Twins, a 2025 season that began with playoff hopes gave way to a 70-win campaign -- the franchise's fewest in a non-shortened season since 2016 -- and a Deadline sell-off. That led to the club dismissing Rocco Baldelli after seven seasons in charge.
