BATESBURG-LEESVILLE, S.C. (WIS) - With Mayor Lancer Shull not seeking re-election, the race to become the next mayor of Batesburg-Leesville is wide open.
Four candidates — two current council members and two political newcomers — are running in the non-partisan election, all with a shared focus on managing the town’s growth and improving collaboration within local government.
The town operates under a council-manager form of government, and the next mayor will play a key role in shaping how Batesburg-Leesville navigates increasing development in Lexington County and the greater Midlands region.
Candidates include David Bouknight, a current councilman representing District 2, Steve Cain, the councilman for District 3 - as well as newcomers Greg Moseley and Larry McConnaughhay.
All four
