Cincinnati families are facing uncertainty as the SNAP food assistance program has been suspended due to the government shutdown, affecting nearly 100,000 residents in Hamilton County who rely on federal food benefits.
David Dickerson, a SNAP recipient from South Cumminsville, expressed his concerns about missing out on the November SNAP payment while waiting for approval of a disability claim. "I'm worried about ... because I ain't gonna have ... what am I gonna do now? You know, I got my housing, but I ain't got no groceries if I ain't got no food stamps," Dickerson said.
