An Oklahoma County judge handed down a punishment on Wednesday for a metro man who brutally murdered his wife and abused their three children. The judge gave Joshua Brown, 39, four life sentences to be served in a Department of Corrections prison.

This was a death penalty case; however, Brown avoided that sentence by taking a plea deal. The victim's family said they learned of the plea agreement late last week.

Shawntea Brown's family has been preparing for this day for five years.

"I know a lot of my family wanted the death penalty," said Aliesha Brown, daughter.
