EVANSVILLE — Democrats in Evansville's Second Ward selected Rita Taylor to replace longtime city councilor Missy Mosby in a caucus Wednesday night.

According to a news release from the party, Taylor is a political strategist, educator, author, and the racial and social justice organizer for the Indiana State Teachers Association.

Mosby exited her city council seat officially Sunday, starting a new position as executive director of Evansville Animal Care & Control.
