A precious pup miraculously survived falling off the edge of a seaside cliff in San Francisco Tuesday when it landed on a ledge and patiently waited for rescuers.

The dog, whose name wasn’t specified, took a 40-foot tumble down a rocky cliffside at Fort Funston around noon, according to the San Francisco Fire Department .

The brown and speckled dog, which appears to be a German Shorthaired Pointer, was saved by local firefighters who rappelled down the cliffside to reach the trapped pooch in a dramatic rescue filmed by the fire department’s drone camera.

As a member of the rescue team started to scale down the edge of the cliff, the dog appeared to grow antsy and paced in the shadows.
