NORFOLK, Va. — The Norfolk State Spartans fell 51–20 to defending MEAC champion South Carolina State in front of the third-largest homecoming crowd ever at Dick Price Stadium. It was a frustrating afternoon for head coach Michael Vick, whose team showed flashes of potential but struggled to sustain momentum.

“We started out fast, and then we just faded,” Vick said. “You’ve got to play four quarters of football. Any lapse in judgment, and things can unravel quick.”
