A Myrtle Beach man entered a guilty plea on an involuntary manslaughter charge on Wednesday, Oct. 29 and received a five-year prison sentence, court records indicate.
Kvon Tyrese Lawhorn, 26, of Myrtle Beach will be credited for time served under the sentence handed down by 15th Judicial Circuit Judge Alex Hyman. The guilty plea was first reported by WMBF news.
The case stems from a shooting outside the former Barfield’s Bar & Grille off the Highway 17 Bypass near Myrtle Beach on Oct. 18, 2023. Two persons were shot, and 23-year-old Starquan Washington of Conway died.
Lawhorn was originally charged with murder, attempted murder and using a weapon during a violent crime, but the charges were reduced at a preliminary hearing before Magistrate Judge Mark Harris in January, 2024.
