Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department are in pursuit of a driver and several possibly armed passengers wanted for alleged carjacking and kidnapping.

The suspect driver appears to be behind the wheel of a white, newer model Toyota Camry, traveling at high speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour in heavy traffic, while blowing through red lights on Figueroa Street with at least a half dozen police cruisers in chase.

The driver had several near misses with other motorists, driving into oncoming traffic while police continued the chase on the ground and from a helicopter.

As the suspected weave dangerously through surface streets, they made their way onto southbound 110 Freeway before exiting onto Imperial Highway then, later, surface streets.
