Game 5 of the World Series couldn’t have started any better for the Toronto Blue Jays.

On the first pitch of the ballgame, Davis Schneider pulled a Blake Snell fastball into the seats at Dodger Stadium. Two pitches later, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. did the same, annihilating another Snell heater over the left-field fence for a swift 2-0 lead.

It was Schneider’s first time leading off in October.

The Blue Jays’ extraordinary run to the World Series has been full of franchise and post-season firsts. Now they have another, as Guerrero and Schneider became the first players in World Series history to hit back-to-back home runs to start a game.

The baseball world hurried to social media to react to the spectacular start.
