If there was ever a week Marple Newtown needed a big win, last Friday night was it.
On the playoff bubble and out of room for error, the Tigers turned to their senior star to make it happen. Brett Wolski delivered in every possible way, powering Marple to a 42-7 rout of Radnor that punched their ticket to the District 1 Class 5A playoffs as the 15th seed.
It’s no surprise Central League coaches named Wolski the league’s athlete of the week for the final week of the regular season. He piled up 151 rushing yards and two touchdowns, ripped off a 90-yard punt return for a score, and finished with more than 250 all-purpose yards. On defense, he picked off a pass, made four tackles and tallied two pass breakups.
