BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - A North Dakota judge has ordered Greenpeace to pay $345 million in damages for defamation and other actions in connection with the Dakota Access Pipeline protests nearly 10 years ago.
Southwest Judicial District Judge James Gion reduced the $660 million penalty imposed by a jury earlier this year.
Energy Transfer and its subsidiary, Dakota Access, sued Greenpeace and its affiliates, accusing them of a scheme to stop the pipeline.
