Chennai: As Cyclone Montha, which made landfall near Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday night, continues to weaken into a deep depression, the Chennai Meteorological Department has forecast a period of moderate rainfall for Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. The weather system is expected to move north-northwestwards and further lose intensity, ensuring that the state will be spared from heavy downpours for the coming week.

According to the latest bulletin, the interaction of the weakening system with local weather patterns will lead to a variation in wind speed, triggering moderate rains across the region.
