TACOMA, Wash. — A Tacoma woman is still grappling with the aftermath of a burglary that left her East Tacoma home ransacked, sentimental belongings stolen and a deep sense of violation.

Two weeks ago, burglars broke into the home of Monica Miles, tearing through her belongings and leaving a trail of destruction.

“As you can see, going up, this comes from out of the attic. They were in the attic,” Miles said, pointing to insulation scattered across the floor and broken furniture. “This was all tossed around.”

Miles said she knew something was wrong the moment she returned home from a dentist appointment. She did not stay at her home the night before.
