WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump said Wednesday that he has instructed the Pentagon resume testing nuclear weapons.
Trump said in a post on his Truth Social platform that the process "will begin immediately."
"Because of other countries testing programs, I have instructed the Department of War to start testing our Nuclear Weapons on an equal basis," he wrote.
The United States stopped nuclear explosive testing in 1992.
Trump’s post on social media came just before his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Trump said earlier Wednesday that the U.S. will share technology with South Korea to allow the country to build a nuclear-powered submarine after meeting with the country’s president .
Trump said in a separate post that the country would build its nuclear-powered submarine
