SALINA, Kan. (KWCH) - SNAP benefits are set to run out in three days due to a stalemate in Congress, with each side blaming the other for the government shutdown.

But people at the Salina Food Bank say they don’t care who’s to blame for the shutdown. They say they need SNAP to be able to eat, and are afraid of what will happen on November 1st.

“I just wish they would stop this and actually come to an agreement instead of arguing and then making us pay for it,” said Malisa Dantzler.

Malisa Dantzler lives in Salina and relies on SNAP benefits due to her age and limited working hours.

“I have my disability,” she said, “I’m nervous about being able to get rent paid, or get the bills paid.”

She says she’s also afraid for children whose parents rely on SNAP.
