DES MOINES, Iowa —
Des Moines police have a man in custody who they say left the scene of a crash and then later led officers on a pursuit on the city's east side.
The DMPD says an officer was investigating a hit-and-run crash in the 3500 block of East Douglas Avenue shortly after 3 p.m. on Wednesday. The officer located the suspect, only identified as a 42-year-old man, in a nearby parking lot, but the suspect fled before being taken into custody.
Shortly after, another officer found the suspect's vehicle in the 2900 block of East Madison Avenue and the suspect fled again, leading the officer on a pursuit.
Pursuing officers performed a PIT maneuver in the 1700 block of East Euclid Avenue to disable the fleeing vehicle. The suspect then got out of the vehicle and ran on foot, but he di
