AKRON, Ohio — An Akron legal giant’s career ended Wednesday amid accusations of sexual misconduct.
Former Summit County prosecutor and judge Michael Callahan surrendered his law license after a state disciplinary probe into accusations that he forced a client to have sex with him and perform a sex act on him in exchange for representing the woman during an eviction case.
Callahan was well-known in legal circles and in recent years became one of the area’s most prominent criminal defense attorneys.
The Ohio Supreme Court accepted the resignation of Callahan’s law license and barred him from working as an attorney or representing clients. He must also inform any current clients that he can no longer represent them.
Callahan’s attorney, Jonathan Coughlan, declined comment.
