MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — It’s been nearly a month since the federal government shutdown began, leaving thousands of workers without paychecks. A Baldwin County nonprofit is stepping in to help.

Prodisee Pantry in Spanish Fort is holding a special food distribution on Thursday for federal employees in Mobile and Baldwin counties. “A lot of people in our community have needs and sometimes those are long, sometimes they're short,” said Mike Bunn, who has volunteered at the pantry for the past five years.

The shutdown has left 41,000 Alabama federal employees without paychecks. “You serve us as federal employees year in, year out. Let us serve you back because that's what it's all about,” said Executive Director of Prodisee Pantry, Deann Servos. Servos said the pantry will distribute canned goo
