The bottom half of the lineup delivered for Orcutt Academy Tuesday, and the No. 6 Spartans racked up a 6-3 win against No. 11 Bakersfield Ridgeview in the first round of the CIF Central Section Division 5 Girls Tennis Playoffs.

The Spartans (8-9) won at Santa Maria Country Club on an unseasonably balmy day. Orcutt will play at No. 3 Hanford in the quarterfinals Thursday at 3 p.m.

Adrianna Doan, Ashley Roepke and Emily Rivera, who players Nos. 4, 5 and 6 on the six-player Orcutt singles ladder, all won in straight sets Tuesday. Roepke won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5. Rivera gave the Spartans their clinching fifth point with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 6.
