The Assam government has pledged to donate the state's share of Goods and Services Tax (GST) from the Assamese film 'Roi Roi Binale' to the Kalaguru Artiste Foundation, a charity established by Zubeen Garg for philanthropic efforts.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma clarified that with no entertainment tax on films in Assam, the government instead decided to channel its GST proceeds from the movie into the foundation to aid in medical treatments, assist flood victims, and support students.
Meanwhile, other government initiatives include approval of a Rs 2,205.75 crore finance package for a flood management project and ensuring the legal rights of the Moran and Matak communities through land settlement approvals, reflecting a focus on both cultural and environmental matters.
